Research description

  • Geobacter species are often the predominant organisms found in the bioremediation of metal-contaminated sites and during electricity production in microbial fuel cells. The conditions in which these processes are catalyzed may be very different from the environments in which the organisms evolved. Understanding the adaptation and evolution of bacteria to optimal growth in relevant conditions will improve our understanding of how these processes are catalyzed.
